The Teaching Team

Teresa Muir

Principal - Member of ATOD Ltd, EDTA and Al Gilbert.

I have been running Elite School of Dance for over 39 years. I studied at the British Ballet Organization in England for a few years at the age of 11. It was after that when I came to Australia and pursued to get my qualifications in EDTA in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, National, Spanish and Highland and becoming an Examiner in EDTA and Al Gilbert. During this era, there was no online videos of the work available, therefore all the syllabus was taught from a book, and I still remember them to this day. To enhance Elite, I then joined the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) syllabus and believe it is the perfect fit for my studio. I always say you are never too old to start dancing as I was 28 with 2 children when I started my dancing career and have never looked back since, it has been my passion and my love. My team and I always strive to make a comfortable learning environment for students to come and learn how to express themselves through dance.

Penny Baker

Eisteddfod Teacher

I have been part of Elite School of Dance since 2011, training across ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap. Throughout my time at the studio, I have completed examinations in these styles, allowing me to grow both as a dancer and as an educator.
Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of teaching and sharing my passion for dance with our students. In 2025, I further developed my skills and stepped into the role of eisteddfod team teacher. Working with our dancers to develop their technique, confidence and love for performing has been incredibly rewarding. I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where every student feels supported and motivated to reach their potential.
Outside of teaching, I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Amy Jones

Teacher

I have been dancing for the last 18 years and am very passionate in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Acro. I have competed in University Jazz, Contemporary and cheer teams at Australian State and National Championships taking home, a variety of medals. I love teaching Acrobatic dance classes and can’t wait to advance dancers tumbling, strength, and flexibility, as well as fine tuning dancers ballet skills. I am very excited to continue teaching and providing a welcoming and engaging dance class.

Saskia Wright

Teacher

Hi, I’m Saskia! I moved to Australia from South Africa in 2020 and since then I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally. I currently work as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, supporting children and their families to build independence and confidence in their everyday lives. This background has strengthened my ability to teach dance with patience, creativity, the ability to adapt routines, and understand each child’s individual developmental and learning needs.
Dance has been a major part of my life for the past 20 years. I have completed all ATOD examinations in Tap and Jazz, and am continuing my personal learning in Contemporary and Ballet. I have previously completed all ADE examinations for dancing in South Africa, including completing a teaching course and three years of teaching experience. In 2019, I was honoured to be selected to travel and dance in New York — an experience that inspired me to keep pushing my technique and passion further. Moving to Australia opened up incredible opportunities, and Elite School of Dance has played a huge role in guiding and supporting my growth as both a dancer and a teacher. Outside of the studio, you’ll find me outdoors, exploring new places, and spending time with my loved ones. I truly enjoy working with children and young adults, and am passionate about sparking their love for dance while helping them feel confident, capable, and proud of their achievements.

Lachlan McDonald

Teacher

I’ve been dancing and performing for over 16 years, with a special love for tap and musical theatre. In this time, I have twice represented Australia internationally in South Africa (2019) and Macau (2024). In 2024, I completed a Diploma of Musical Theatre alongside a COMDANCE Diploma of Teaching (Tapping) at Conroy Performing Arts College. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the Elite School of Dance team, where I can share my passion for tap with the next generation of dancers. Outside the studio, I’m studying Audio Engineering and Sound Production, with hopes of pursuing a career in theatre production in the future.

Alice Donaghey

Teacher

Since joining the Elite School of Dance at the age of 4, I have gained extensive knowledge in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary, completing exams and representing the school at eisteddfods. My years as an assistant teacher allowed me to discover my passion for helping students learn new skills and develop as dancers, and I now continue to refine my skills and teaching approach in order to provide the best support to my students. In 2025, I had the opportunity to guest choreograph for the Indooroopilly State High School musical, and began my studies of a bachelor of psychological science at university.

Juliette Vever

Teacher

I have been with Elite School of Dance since 2015 as a student, and teaching since 2024. I am currently studying A Bachelor of Creative Arts Acting with a minor in music. My passion is all things in the performing arts, and the creative industry is my home. I love performing, choreographing, teaching dance, and encouraging everyone to express themselves through all art forms, especially dance.

Tyra Vink

Teacher

Since joining the Elite School of Dance in 2013, I have gained a great passion for tap dance. This specialisation combined with a love for music has led me to achieve 100% grades in my final two tap exams from the Australian Teachers of Dancing curriculum. In 2025, I have had the privilege of taking on a teaching position and have since learned a lot about myself and my relationship to tap dance. I strive to provide my students with an inclusive and encouraging learning environment, and aim to help them improve their understanding of this uniquely musical dance style.
