Exam Information

The Elite School of Dance provides students with the opportunity to participate in dance examinations. Dance examinations are an exciting and rewarding experiences for students. Dance exams can develop a students' confidence and concentration. The skills developed through dance examinations can assist students in other aspects of their lives, such as school examinations. 

 

2025 Exam timetable will be released throughout the year 

All Exams will be held at the Sherwood Studio - 38 Thallon Street, Sherwood

 

Students must arrive at least one hour before their exam. (Students in Level 6/Elementary Seal and above should arrive 1.5 - 2 hours before). 

Students in Bronze Medal and above must bring their completed theory book for ballet and tap. Students will not be allowed into the exam without it. 

It is important for students to be well presented as it gives them the best opportunity for success. 

 

Ballet Female: 

  • Black V-neck cotton sleeveless leotard with gathered front
  • Black sheer wrap ballet skirt
  • Pink seamless ballet tights (no ladders)
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with pink ballet ribbons (clean) 
    • Students in Test 1 and 2 DO NOT require ballet ribbons

Ballet Male: 

  • White cap sleeve leotard
  • Black male ballet tights
  • Black leather ballet shoes (clean)
  • Black socks
  • Male protector

 

Jazz Female: 

  • Black V-neck cotton sleeveless leotard with gathered front
  • Black V-front bike shorts
  • Black leather slip on jazz shoes (clean)
  • Skin tone shimmer redenzas (no ladders)

Jazz Male: 

  • Black tight fitting singlet
  • Black dance pants
  • Black leather slip on jazz shoes (clean)
  • Black socks

Tap Female: 

  • Black V-neck cotton sleeveless leotard with gathered front
  • Black Tap Skirt (Supplied by the school)
  • Camel buckle tap shoes (clean)
  • Skin tone shimmer redenzas (no ladders)

Tap Male: 

  • Black tight fitting t-shirt 
  • Black shorts or dance pants
  • Black leather lace up tap shoes (clean)
  • Black socks

Contemporary Female: 

  • Contemporary leotard (supplied by the school)
  • Black contemporary pants (supplied by the school)

Contemporary Male: 

  • Contemporary singlet (supplied by the school)
  • Black contemporary pants (supplied by the school)

Hip Hop Female: 

  • Black V-neck cotton sleeveless leotard with gathered front
  • Blue singlet (supplied by the school)
  • Black hip hop pants (supplied by the school) 
  • Black lace up canvas shoes (clean)
  • Skin tone shimmer redenzas (no ladders)

Hip Hop Male: 

  • Blue singlet (supplied by the school)
  • Black hip hop pants (supplied by the school)

National Female:

  • Black V-neck cotton sleeveless leotard with gathered front
  • Character skirt (supplied by the school)

National Male:

Hair and Other Female: 

  • Hair must be gelled back into a neat bun, secured with a bun net.
    • (No coloured hair ties or clips.) (No bun donuts)
  • Fringes are to be gelled back off the face
  • No nail polish
  • No Jewellery​
  • Skin coloured under garments

Hair and Other Male: 

  • Hair must be off the face
